The Wine Edition Wines from Spain returns with a packed tasting programme

For the third consecutive year, Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition Wines from Spain will be held within Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España 2023, now in its 21st year, and considered the most important gastronomic congress in the world.

As partner event to this gastronomic congress, The Wine edition Wines from Spain will once again bring forward a programme of presentations, demonstrations and tasting experiences dedicated to wine in the auditorium and the large exhibition space.

Spain’s regions explored

The Wine Edition Wines from Spain presents a comprehensive insight into the rich winemaking tradition in Spain. From the volcanic lands of Tenerife in the Canary Islands, all the way to Andalucía in the South and Galicia in the North of the country, the exhibition and tasting space will offer an unrivalled opportunity to experience and learn about wines from across Spain.

With input and insights from wine professionals taking part in each session, the programme portrays the rich landscape of wine that is found in Spain.

The issues covered will be highly diverse, ranging from pairing wine with pizza to learning about wines according to the terroir, including topics of interest to anyone within the varied audience.

Well-known brands will participate alongside new and different producers.

Some highlights of the tasting room sessions include:

The story of Jean Leon, a fascinating winemaking fairy tale that started in Hollywood 60 years ago, on Monday 23rd January
A sensory journey through the wines of Valdecuevas, paired with food by Madrid restaurant Chispa, on Tuesday 24 January
A presentation of Maktub Wine, by Philanthropist and film-maker Paco Arango and Ferran Centelles, former sommelier of El Bulli, on Wednesday 25th January

A comprehensive programme

The tasting experiences and educational sessions are complemented by the presentation and demonstration programme in the main auditorium of The Wine Edition Wines from Spain, featuring national and international voices, including chef Eric Kragh Vildgaard (Restaurant Jordnær**, Denmark) and Paz Levinson, executive sommelier at Anne-Sophie Pic***, France.

They will both be joined in the main auditorium by other high-profile names from gastronomy and wine in Spain. Josep Roca (El Celler de Can Roca***, Spain) will deliver what is sure to be a fascinating presentation on the role of wine in the restaurant he owns with his two brothers.
