The Wine Edition, the global wine congress, is back for the third year running

 

With a winning format of talks and round tables featuring leading national and international professionals, Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition is back to enhance the interesting connection between wine and gastronomy.

Devised as the world’s most influential gastronomy congress, Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España 2023 offers a new round of Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition, a recent event which after only two years has proved it can cope with the history and prestige of this culinary encounter. A congress on the world of wine, still focusing on unearthing new trends and new talents, as a forum for discussion and learning in a sector which is an essential component of our culture and our gastronomy.

In a bid to create the necessary connection between wine and gastronomy, of such interest to both sectors, the auditorium and other spaces earmarked for Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition 2023 will be open to all congress-goers. To make this easier, the same ticket can be used for both congresses and, like the gastronomy event, all talks at the wine event can be taken up virtually on the congress’s online platform.

There will be free access to The Wine Edition’s exhibition area, and individual admittance to the wine congress (90% tasting sessions) can be purchased for each tasting session at www.madridfusion.net. Full-day purchases are also available. Admittance to talks will be free, capacity permitting.

Confirmed guest appearances

The talks already confirmed by leading names from the world of wine at Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition 2023 include Eric Kragh Vildgaard (Jordnær**, Denmark), Paz Levinson (Anne-Sophie Pic***, France), Kristell Monot and Julián Otero (Mugaritz**), Juan Luis García Ruiz (Casa Marcial**), Fina Puigdevall (Les Cols**) and Begoña Rodrigo (La Salita*). Josep Roca (El Celler de Can Roca***), Pedro Ballesteros MW, Andreas Kubach MW, Almudena Alberca MW, Fernando Mora MW, Xavier Rousset (Cabotte Wine Bar & Restaurant, London) and Ferran Centelles (former sommelier at elBulli) are other leading names at this third congress.

A most comprehensive programme

For the third year running, Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition 2023 will be staging a major experiential offer, with several participative activities and high-class training spaces. The schedule will be divided once again into morning and afternoon sessions. The theoretical sessions will be in the morning: talks, round tables, conversations with producers and presentations to provide a wide-ranging interesting vision of what is going on in the world of wine. The first master tasting sessions of the day will be held before lunch, by way of an appetiser of everything to follow.

Since last year the morning and afternoon the talks have included practical demonstrations with master tasting sessions and encounters with producers attempting to show, with the assistance of some interesting live demonstrations, all aspects of wine, introducing the latest enological trends.

In addition to the Auditorium, once more Madrid Fusión The Wine Edition 2023 will have an open tasting space for wineries and regions to avail themselves of leading personalities from the world of wine to present historical vintages, harmonious gastronomic combinations and new projects and trends in winemaking.

Awards and tributes

Juli Soler Prize for Talent and Future in Wine

Just as Madrid Fusión Alimentos de España introduces the new team of revelation chefs year after year, The Wine Edition will be doing the same with new professionals operating in the world of wine. This third congress, sponsored once more by Ramón Bilbao, will be awarding the 3rd Juli Soler Prize for Talent and Future in Wine to young people who are making a name for themselves in various fields in the sector. The award will be made on the last day by Rita Soler.


Tierra de Sabor Prize for the most sustainable winery

Tierra de Sabor, the brand promoting the Castilla y León food and agriculture sector, will be awarding a prize for the most sustainable winery, according to the requisites established by the Congress board.
